Fragrance Engine is built by one person and ships continuously. This log is the public record of it: features, fixes, and honest corrections, in plain language. The log opens in May 2026; the product predates it.

July 2026

• Jul 13

  Share a formula card. Any saved formula can mint a public link showing its shape: the pyramid split, the olfactive radar, and the performance estimates. The materials and percentages stay with you, and revoking the link kills it for good. Free on every plan.

  Five starting-point briefs now sit under the describe box. One tap fills the box so you can see what a good brief looks like; nothing generates until you say so.

  Running out of free briefs now opens a proper plans dialog, with the date your briefs return, instead of a bare error line.

  The home page speaks to both benches. The hero now addresses the working perfumer and the first-time composer in turn, and every material count on the public pages reads live from the catalog instead of a number that goes stale.

  Live batch costing on the lab sheet. Pick a batch size and concentration and every line prices itself, grams times the material's effective per-gram cost, with a batch total, a cost per milliliter, and a buy button that opens sourcing straight from the sheet. All plans price on the catalog; Studio Pro prices on live suppliers.

  Source materials, rebuilt. The sourcing view now groups by supplier, quotes each supplier's own entry pack verbatim, flags out-of-stock sizes, and totals an estimated starter cost so you know what getting started actually costs. Prices are Studio Pro; the buy links stay free for everyone.

  Dark mode contrast was corrected at the root for every dialog in the app.

  Verbatim supplier pack prices. Buy links now quote the supplier page's own smallest in-stock pack rather than a derived bulk figure, and every stored price is verified against the live supplier page before it ships. A supplier that went offline was retired from every price surface.

  Direct buy links for everyone. Where we hold a verified product page for a material, sourcing links straight to it, CAS-checked so the link is the right molecule, covering a meaningful slice of the catalog that scraped listings missed. Free on every plan.

  The evolution chart now reads on skin. Recalibrated against the live catalog so the wear curve matches skin rather than a blotter; most formulas now land between 5 and 12 hours instead of everything pinning at the chart's edge.

  Find accords inside a formula. Studio can ask the engine to spot a coherent sub-group in a formula; an AI names it, the engine keeps every number, and you save it as a reusable accord or note it in place.

  AI merge for two formulas. On the formula map, Studio can merge two compositions: the AI chooses only what to keep, the deterministic engine sets every percentage, and the result lands as a reversible draft.

  Your bench values, deeper. Studio Pro can record bench drivers like drydown onset and intensity beside the estimates, adjust the displayed pyramid split, and keep private role or physics values on a material page. Display only; the engine never reads an override.

  A run of reported fixes: accord editing no longer opens a blank canvas, the describe-freely preview fills in its side rail, and the evolution player follows tenacious bases past eight hours.

  Thirty-nine new materials. Hand-verified additions took the catalog past 300: aroma chemicals with real atmospheric physics, and naturals pinned to curated roles rather than guessed data.

  Tier cards corrected and the AI meter renamed. The pricing tier cards were rewritten to match the shipped product exactly, and AI credits are now called briefs everywhere, with the boundary stated plainly: a language model reads the brief, the deterministic engine does the rest.

  Features page corrected against reality. The comparison matrix was audited line by line against what is actually shipped; stale claims and a roadmap section were removed.

  Terms of Service and Privacy Policy published, alongside site-wide protection against cross-site request forgery on every form.

  Batch depletion. Recording a batch can now subtract the materials it used from your inventory lots, oldest lot first, with a live preview and a one-click undo.

  Build-check against your inventory. On any formula, see per material what you own, what you are short, and what you do not track, with a shopping list for the gaps. Free.

  Reformulate around a material you cannot get. Pick the unavailable material and the engine proposes the nearest olfactive replacement with a before-and-after of structure and performance, saved as a reversible draft. Studio.

  A formula composed in the landing sandbox now follows you through signup as your first saved draft.

  Paste or import your own formula. Paste a formula as text or CSV and get the full read-back on a private draft, with per-line catalog matching you confirm before anything is saved. Free.

  Material swaps gained a one-step undo, and the cost optimizer and substitutions were correctly gated to Studio after a free-access leak was found and closed.

  Your bench numbers beside the estimates. Studio Pro can record its own projection, longevity, and sillage readings next to the computed values, clearly badged, with the estimate kept for provenance. The same release added the standing estimate-versus-bench note across the app.

  The Formulary. A community library of published formula and accord editions: browse and take editions into your workspace on any paid plan, publish your own on Studio Pro.

  Catalog data completion. 258 of 260 live materials now carry full curated physical data, the foundation every estimate stands on.

  Roles in context. A material's top, heart, or base reading now reflects the formula it sits in, not just its catalog label, so an accent reads as an accent. The method is described on the methods page.

• Late May

  Engine truth overhaul. Family-aware composition shaping (a citrus brief and an amber brief now build structurally differently), corrected fixative data across the catalog, and a rewritten internal self-check that runs before every release.

  Formula compare, the inventory library, and the dilution calculator shipped, and the lab sheet's gram math went density-aware.
